Isn't it interesting how fear can have two very different aspects? On one hand, there's a positive form of fear—a deep reverence and awe for God. But on the other hand, there's a paralyzing fear that can hold you back from stepping into what God has called you to do. This kind of fear can rob you of progress, purpose, and the next step toward your ultimate goal.
Fear causes you to see life through a lens of negativity and impossibility. In contrast, faith empowers you to see beyond the present circumstances and to stand on the promises of God, no matter what things look like.
Take Rahab, for example. Though she was known as a harlot, she had heard about the God of Israel—about His miracles, how He gave Israel victory in battle and led them to claim new territory. Something in her heart knew she wanted to be connected to that God. She chose faith over fear. She took a bold step by helping the spies, fully believing that if she followed the instructions, she and her household would be saved. And because of her faith, they were.
So when it comes down to fear vs. faith—choose faith. Let it be your only option. And always keep in mind 2 Timothy 1:7:
"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind."
