Self-Sabotage

Let’s talk about self-sabotage and how it hinders our walk with God.

God speaks to us clearly—assuring us of our assignment, our calling, and our purpose. Yet every time the opportunity to step into it presents itself, we talk ourselves out of what God is trying to do through us. We cling to our weaknesses, our fears, and our insecurities, struggling to come into agreement with what God is saying about us.

Does this sound familiar?

Consider Moses. God revealed to him his divine assignment: to lead and deliver the people out of Egypt. Yet instead of fully accepting God’s word and trusting in His power, Moses responded by pointing out every perceived flaw—his speech, his ability, his limitations. Moses focused on what he lacked, while God focused on who He is.

Moses’ hesitation didn’t come from humility alone; it also came from fear and self-doubt. But God was never asking Moses to rely on his own strength—He was calling him to trust in the strength of the One who sent him.

And that’s where many of us struggle.

Self-sabotage begins when we agree more with our fears than with God’s promises. When God calls, He also equips. When He assigns, He sustains. The question is not whether we are capable, but whether we are willing to believe God over ourselves.
